First there was Alexa, then came Google Home, now the Chinese have their version: The LingLong DingDong. If imitation is the highest form of flattery then Amazon should be truly flattered. The team at LingLong admits to being inspired by the Echo and is aiming to catch up with the market leader in terms of supported services. The DingDong currently does the basics: plays music, helps order stuff on line and looks up information all just with your voice. However with only about 10 services integrated compared to Amazon’s over 4,000 it has a long way to go.
One thing the DingDong can do that the Echo cannot is speak Chinese. Perhaps there is an opportunity for a partnership? The smart home audio control devices have been slow to expand into foreign markets and it would be great to see partnerships that accelerate deployment and improve access to local content.
What do you think? Would you want a DingDong in your home? Let us know in the comments!
