The browser wars may not seem like the front line for new tech and you may be asking what it has to do with automation or the Internet of Things (IoT)? Today Vivaldi Technologies released their latest browser Vivaldi 1.5 (Download it here) with built-in support for controlling Philips Hue lights. Yep, it’s built right into the browser.
Vivaldi is an all around awesome web browser. If you haven’t already checked it out it is worth a look. With the Philips Hue bridge integration browsing the web takes on a new dimension. Simply connect to you Hue Bridge, select the lights you want it to control and the browser will synchronize your physical surrounding to the colours found on the web. See it in action here.
So what do you think? Is it a gimmick? The future of the web? Interesting but probably something you would only use once? Let us know in the comments!
